Trimming and filing should begin at exactly one month of age for a foal.
Horses have hooves.
Some horses benefit by having hard hooves because then when they gallop or run they don't get their frogs (soft part of their hooves) cut. So it is very beneficial for horses to have hard hooves.
horses have hooves so their feet don't get so dirty. it also protects their feet from getting hurt
horseshoes
all horses have hooves its just naturual there cant be a horse without hooves! horses have hooves because its there adption to the ways of nature i mean you wouldn't want to go bare foot through thorn bushes, stones etc...
Not really. The toughness of a horse's hoof is more related to diet and weather conditions.
Horses do not have horns (Unicorns are mythological creatures) are you thinking of cow horns (in which case no they do not have to be clipped), or perhaps horses hooves? If you are thinking of horses hooves, then the horn on these is the same as your fingernails and it grows slowly. In the natural state the horse will wear its hooves down by running but in domestication this may not happen and a farrier or blacksmith needs to come and file the hooves periodically. This is normally done when the horse is being fitted for new horseshoes. If the hooves are not kept filed (or worn down naturally) hey will grow to the point where the horse can no longer walk and this is very painful.
This triangle thing on a horses' hooveis called the frog. When you clean the horses' hooves, you have to be careful of the frog. It's sensitive.
