A horses should be at minimum 3 years old. Any age before that and their joints have not fully closed and it will cause problems later in life. That being said many people believe a horse should never jump before it's 6 years old, which is when the horse is most likely 100% fully grown and done 'forming'.
you should train a trotting horse at the age of 5 years old.

No, the horse that jumped off the cliff in the movie "The Revenant" was not a Knabstrup. The horse was actually a gray quarter horse. The scene is notable for its dramatic portrayal of survival and sacrifice, but it does not involve the Knabstrup breed.

I'm not completely sure, but I believe he was around 3-4 years of age. So, still rather young for a horse.

The Arabian was the first horse to jump seven feet in equine history.

You can tell the age of a horse ruffly by looking at what teeth they have but this should be only attempted by a professional vet or horse dentist. I hope this helps!
Well it doesn't matter what breed your horse is, the average age to ride horses is between 3 to 20 years of age but if your horse has any medical problems like arthritis it might not be able to be ridden as long.
Start out with a bosal or side pull and once your horse is respoding to pressure introduce a light snaffle or D ring bit to your horse keeping it not too tight but not too loose in their mouth.Since you normally start riding a horse at the age of 2 then perhaps the age 3 or 4 your horse may be ready for the bit. Don't rush it. You should be able to feel how your horse is working and when he is ready to move on.
A horse should not be ridden before the age of three. This is detrimental to the horse's health, and will cause severe problems in the future. The best time to start training a horse under saddle is when the horse reaches the age of four, when the joints of the animal have properly set.
