Most airguns will kill a rodent. It doesn't mean they are designed to kill rodents or used for hunting. It's just that they can. A good hunting air gun/rifle will state that it can be used for hunting. Look at the description on the box or literature and it will tell you what it is designed to do. Some say for Plinking, and target practice. Others will say for target and hunting. So you have to look and do some research. (Read the Specks)
A good hunting air rifle will cost you around $200 and up. I suggest a .22 caliber rifle not a .177 caliber.
If you want to do some serious large game hunt then use a PreCharged Pneumatic rifle that can fire up to a 50 caliber pellet.
