When working as a FedEx employee you are given flight benefits after 6 months of employment. Standby: you can fly standby on several different airlines for roughly $50-$100 round trip. FedEx used to offer "Jumpseating" to employees where they would fly on the FedEx planes and sit in one of the 4 extra seats behind the pilot on the cargo plans, however after 9-11 that benefit was no longer being offered.
No Fedex does not have passenger planes. Although their cargo planes do have a few passenger seats, these are used only for transporting Fedex employees and/or flight crews.

no it is not illegal. it has become a common practice to fedex luggage after airlines imposed fees for checked bags. fedex also ships luggage for several cruise lines.
Fedex certainly does fly to australia. Flight FDX77 leaves Los Angeles, stops at Hawaii and then Sydney most weekdays. I believe this is the only Fedex flight to australia. The plane then returns to the states via china.
