Well 50 Cent left Shady Records in 2014 because of his studio album "Street King Immortal" being delayed several times and partly because of Dr Dre's obsession with Beats Audio. However he planned to rejoin Shady/Aftermath in 2018.
I’ll limit this answer to the four main categories (Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist). Fellow answerer Carmella Mosciski listed those nominees out here.I would say Maren Morris getting just one nomination (Best Country Duo/Group Performance for "Common" with Brandi Carlile) was the biggest surprise. Her eligible album, GIRL, won the CMA Award for Album of the Year, and she had a whole slew of nominations at that ceremony. That she didn’t get a nod from the Recording Academy in any of the big four categories, especially Album of the Year, was pretty shocking. The Jonas Brothers’ smash "Sucker" was a surprising absence from the Record of the Year category. The song is up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, but for such a chart-topping hit that was surrounded by a lot of excitement about the brothers’ return to music, it seemed like a no-brainer for a ROTY nod.For Best New Artist, I would say Megan Thee Stallion is probably the snub I least saw coming. The breakout rapper had a huge year, and she seemed like a pretty safe bet, but I guess the Recording Academy disagreed. Not only was she snubbed for Best New Artist, but she was also ignored in every other category.Another artist that got completely shut out of the ceremony is Halsey. Her single "Without Me" was a really strong contender for Song or Record of the Year, and that she didn’t get recognized at all was a bit disappointing. And finally, say what you will about Taylor Swift, but the week her album Lover was released, it sold more copies than the rest of the Billboard 200 combined. Maybe it didn’t have the cultural impact of Lil Nas X or of Ariana Grande’s thank u, next, but it was widely praised by critics and was a clear success among the masses. She did scoop up three nominations (Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Pop Vocal Album) so it’s not as if she’s being ignored outright, but I suspect the fact that she’s already won Album of the Year twice outweighed the merits of the album at hand.
