Amaretto Sour
Cola with grenadine syrup, sometimes with a maraschino cherry. Like the Shirley Temple, it's intentionally non-alcoholic.
The anagram of maraschino (prepared cherry) is harmonicas.
Maraschino, as in cherry
a non-alcoholic drink that is usually made for children - a drink supposedly named after the child actress Shirley Temple - there are many variations of the drink, but the most popular version these days is lemon-lime soda (i.e. Sprite), some grenadine, and topped with a maraschino cherry - other versions include ginger ale and orange juice instead of lemon-lime soda - personal favorite version was a part of ginger ale, a part of Sprite, a splash of cherry juice from the maraschino cherry jar, a squirt of grenadine, and a maraschino cherry as a topper... and of course the little paper umbrellas the adults got in their "grown-up" drinks... lol

The maraschino cherry can be kept on the shelf after opening. However, the shelf life will be longer if kept refrigerated.
It means to avoid swallowing it.
When maraschino cherries grow on the cherry tree, they have pits. As they are processed into the product that you find in the jar, the pits are removed.
You can use fresh cherries, dried cherries, or cherry liqueur as substitutes for maraschino cherries in your cocktail recipe.
For alcoholic substitutions, (some may alter the "cherryness"slightly): Cherry Schnapps, creme de cassis, Chambord, black raspberry liqueur, cherry grappa, cherry wine mixed with simple syrup, vodka and cherry syrup For non-alcoholic substitutions, (again, some less cherry-like): cherry syrup, cherry flavoring plus simple syrup, cherry juice and simple syrup, frozen cherry juice concentrate (undiluted), liquid from a jar of Maraschino cherries, hard cherry sugar candies (e.g., lifesavers) dissolved in boiling water and liquid reduced to a syrup
About 48 maraschino cherries. A maraschino cherry weighs in at about 5 grams. A 10 oz jar of maraschino cherries contains 50-55 cherries, and a 5 oz jar contains about 25 cherries.
