The second mysterious sound that Scrooge hears is a clanking noise, like chains being dragged across the floor. This sound is accompanied by a voice moaning and wailing. It is the sound of the ghost of Jacob Marley, Scrooge's former business partner, who has come to warn Scrooge about his impending fate if he does not change his ways.
The first it is foretold will visit on Chritmas Day at one am, the second the next night at the same time and the thrid the next at the last stroke of 12 mid night. This proves to be wrong as all three visit scrooge on the same night

The third upon the next night when the last stroke of Twelve has ceased to vibrate. However, it will appear that on Christmas Morning Scrooge revels that the ghosts have done all their visits in the one night

The second spirit to visit scrooge in A Christmas Carol is the Ghost of Christmas Present. The ghost takes Scrooge to both his nephew and employee's home in the present time. He also appears with two spirit children, Ignorance and Want.
