i don't know but could it be lava? I'm only in year nine so I'm practically guessing and the only hot thing i could now over is lava...

^^ lava is not an element, but my best guess would be Beryllium as it has a boiling point of 2,970 degrees celcius and it is an alkaline earth metal.
