If you're going to have a serious sound system like that you're going to be using some serious power. Depending on the car, you will need to take some steps to compensate for this extra power use. In drastic cases, you may need an alternator upgrade. Generally it is enough to get a large capacitor (cap) to store a charge that is used when the music hits a really loud note. The cap "reserve power" is used in that case so that the rest of the electrical system doesn't see a dip in power that would result in the lights dimming , for example. Next you will need an amplifier to powere the speakers. What the amplifier does is take the signal from the head unit (cd player or radio) and basically makes it louder. Head units typically have a 75-150 watt amplipier built in, but you will need a few thousand watts for 10 subs! Next you will need to dampen everything that might rattle in the car because there is nothing worse than hearind a car at the stop light with their trunk rattling.
