The People of this land have allowed Congress to gain more and more powers over them year after year! Because the People never require Congress to be held accountable for their actions, and never require Congressmen to obey the laws of the land, and never stop Congressmen from usurping powers that were never theirs.
One method is a broad interpretation of the Interstate Commerce Clause (Article I, Section 8). This Clause was used as the foundation of New Deal and civil rights legislation, among other things.
The Elastic Clause allows Congress to stretch its powers. The clause is found in Article I, Section 8, Clause 18 of the US Constitution.
