During the Vietnam War, the slogan most heard was "old enough to fight .. old enough to vote" during a time 18 year old were drafted into the army. It was passed on March 23, 1971 and officially ratified on July 1, 1971. However, the first national (for President) election they were able to vote in was in 1976.
