It should be marked either on the receiver or barrel
Mine is marked .410 3" chamber, and it works extremely well with WInchester Super X ammo
If anyone has an answer I'd like to know too. I inherited a New Haven .410 bolt action model 283B. I don't know the difference between the 283TB and the 283B so please share that information if you know it. Thanks! The difference between a 283TB and a 283B is that the 283TB is a .410 and a 30.6 too.
NO NO NO. Please don't ever try to fire rifle ammo from a shotgun!

50 dollars tops. Mass produced poor material I might disagree about the quality. It's been durable and dependable since day one. Shooting Super X 3" slugs it's dead-on at 50 yards.

With the serial number that you provided, your Winchester model 74 was produced in New Haven,Conn in the year 1947.
Your winchester model 1894 rifle was made at new haven Conn.in the year 1952.
The Mossberg plant moved from New Haven to North Haven about 1962 when the Interstate (91?) came through the old plant.
Go to google and look up images of a "marlin model 80". Model 80's were made in new haven from 1934-1939 or so and then I believe the plant was moved to north haven.
