It's all about personal preference. Every amp sounds different. Even the same model.

check out the bass that the guy in disturbed uses by a brand called traben , through a cheap guitar cable and a microcube amp it blew me away with the heaviness of it.

three kinds... BC Rich Warlocks (6 and 7 string) , BC Rich Beast V's and BC Rich V's hes been endorsed by BC Rich forever, stay far away from the ones that don't have EMG's and no kahlers they aren't true Kerry King guitars.
Ibanez, BC Rich, ESP/Ltd and Schecter are all respectable guitar company's, with good cost to sound ratio and great for metal.
