Aristarchus of Samos, a Greek mathematician and astronomer, was the first person (that we know of) to propose the idea that the Earth circles the Sun
You're probably thinking of Ptolmey, though the geocentric model predates Socrates and we're not sure who first came up with it.
Nicolaus Copernicus developed and published an astronomical model in 1543 that put the sun at the center of the universe. This model became known as Copernican heliocentrism.
Galileo Galilei wasthe ancient Greek who developed a geocentric model.
Aristarchus of Samos proposed the heliocentric model in the 3rd century BC; however, his model did not work too well because the data the "scientific community" were working with at the time was wildly inaccurate (while at the same time, shockingly accurate in places given the apparatus they were working with).
Though many accepted the geocentric model of the universe, it was designed by the famous astronomer Ptolemy.
um...copernicus is what i have read though best bet is google him and see who expanded on his ideas. the names are to numerous.
Renaissance astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus who developed a heliocentric model which placed the Sun as the center of our universe , was a native of Royal Prussia. Royal Prussia , at that time, was part of the Kingdom of Poland.
I don't know who or what coperniculus is, but Copernicus was an astronomer cited as the creator of the first workable heliocentric model of the universe.
That would be Tycho Brahe who created the heliogeocentric model of the universe, which never became prominent at all.
Nicolaus Copernicus was a mathematician and astronomer who lived 1473-1543 developed the heliocentric model. Meaning he believed the earth revolved around the sun this contradicted popular belief at the time.
