I can find no record in Luke of Joseph being spoken to by an angel. The record in Matthew does not record the name of the angel, only that this angel spoke to Joseph; Matthew 1:20. The angelic appearance in Luke to a man is to Zachariah, John's father, and Gabriel was the angel who announced John's conception and birth.
Matthew Chapter 1 verse 24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the Angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: the term the Angel of the Lord can be used for itself Actually being God himself or an Angel sent by God to carry forth His will. It says the Angel of the Lord, The word "of" shows that it could be God or An Angel sent by God.
There are several Josephs in The Bible, but assuming we're talking about Mary's husband (Jesus' step-father) Joseph, he was visited twice by an unnamed angel. Once when he discovered Mary was pregnant (Matthew 1:18-25) and once after Jesus' birth, when escaping from Harod (Matthew 2:13-23). Scripturally, there are only two angels ever named, Michael and Gabriel, and the only angel who ever revealed his name in person, was Gabriel. He was used in communicating to Daniel twice, Zechariah (John the Baptizer's father) and to Mary (Jesus' mother), but no mention is officially made of who spoke to Joseph.
Joseph and Mary were betrothed to each other. Joseph had to go to Bethlehem to be registered because he was an ancestor of King David. Mary, who was with child went with him. Joseph was the step father of Jesus and God had ordained that Joseph and Mary raise Jesus after His birth. They became a family and Joseph was the father figure.
An angel of the Lord told Joseph to take Mary as his wife. According to the biblical account in the Gospel of Matthew, the angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and reassured him that Mary's pregnancy was from the Holy Spirit and that he should not be afraid to take her as his wife.
----------------------- In Matthew's Gospel, Joseph knows this because an angel appeared to him in a dream and told him about Jesus. In Luke's Gospel, Joseph knows this because Mary told him that an angel had appeared to her and told her about Jesus.
A:The author of Luke's Gospel says that an angel appeared to Mary, but not to Joseph. The author of Matthew's Gospel says that an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream, but not to Mary. In spite of the second-century attribution, both authors were actually anonymous, and Uta Ranke-Heinemann (Putting Away Childish Things) says that both nativity accounts are, with respect to time, place, and circumstances, a collection of legends.
In the Bible, it is the angel Gabriel who is said to have spoken to Saint Joseph. Gabriel appeared in a dream to Joseph and told him not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife, for the child she was carrying was conceived by the Holy Spirit.

Yes, according to religious texts, angels such as Gabriel came to Mary to announce the birth of Jesus. An angel also appeared to Joseph to reassure him about Mary's pregnancy, and another angel visited Zachariah to announce the birth of John the Baptist.
