The Chinese zodiac relates to the hour, day, month and year of a person's birth. This chart is called the Four Pillars of Destiny. Each pillar relates to a different aspect of a person's life. The most familiar pillar is that of the year animal. This animal is shared by a whole year of people and gives general characteristics for how they deal with circumstances. The other pillars indicate basic personality traits and married life (day); children and senior years (hour); parents, love life (month).
