In North America you may find raccoons, skunks, or opposums on your deck at night, especially if you have left out some pet food or tasty trash. It is not unheard of to have visits from a bobcat, cougar or even a bear if you have left something attractive to them outside.

Should you scare a raccoon off your deck?

Something is attracting the raccoons for them to come back. Do not leave any pet food out at night and make sure trash cans are secured so they cannot open them. Also, check to see if they have made a den under the deck. If they have, you need to find a way to exclude them by enclosing the underside of the deck.
