wolves are omnivores they eat plants and meat but mostly meat
that isn't part of their prey. most lone wolves will try to catch birds or squirrels or small animals because they wouldn't be able to bring down a big animal without a pack. i think they do eat birds because they mainly eat meat.
Most wolves belong to a pack. The adults would do the hunting and eat first. It goes from oldest to the youngest wolf. Some wolves if there is not enough to share usually the pups would go without. But with the very young that have started eating meat but cannot go to a hunt the adult wolf would regurgitate.
