Egypt has very few wild animals typical to the country. However, it does inhabit gazelles, the desert fox, hyenas, jackals, boar and jerboa. Most of these are found along the Nile, in the mountains and along the coast of the Red Sea. Reptiles are also found in Egypt, and the country inhabits many types of lizards and poisonous snakes. Animals found in the waters of the lower Nile are the crocodile and the hippopotamus.
