Mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits all make really good pets. There are also some small reptiles that make great pets. It all depends on what your looking for, your budget and commitment. Mice and rats are great because they are very low maintenance and are fun to watch and play with, and mice require only a small cage, rat cages need to be a bit bigger. For hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits you normally need a hutch, which are available at most pet stores. Some reptiles are really high maintenance, you need specific food, humidity and housing and it can be quite expensive, but there are still some small reptiles that are lower maintenance and still make great pets. I own two mice and I think they're great, they don't need too much time, but love to be petted and played with.

Yes. They're small enough to even make good house-pets. However you may have to check with local laws on such animals because pigs, regardless of breed, are considered "livestock," not "pets" or "companion animals."
