The Dodo most likely did have compeititors for food AND survival. For food: small mammals and other birds For survival: This was a huge part. Many animals could eat it or take it's shelter.

Interactions which take place in a tropical rain forest include the rain falling and fungi growing, animals eating the fungi, including frogs and birds, and the larger animals which eat the birds, such as monkeys
Crows are opportunistic feeders and are known to hunt small animals such as insects, rodents, and small birds. They may also scavenge carrion or steal food from other animals. In addition to hunting, crows often forage for food in urban environments, where they take advantage of human waste and discarded food. Their intelligence allows them to adapt their hunting strategies based on availability.
If a bird isover hunted, its natural predators will have to search elsewhere for food. In addition, the animals that are normally hunted by those birds will overpopulate. This will lead to there not being enough food for all of them. Major changes will take place in the animals within an ecosystem.

I prefer working with both kinds. With 'big' animals I take it you mean cattle, horses, pigs etc. and with 'small' animals, I take it you mean rodents, reptiles and birds.
Vacations (holidays form work) are a human invention and only apply to humans. Wild animals such as song birds can not and do not take vacations. They may migrate to different parts of the world during certain seasons, but this is to ensure that their food supply is maintained, it is not a vacation.
All livestock and domestic pets are usually not a problem. But exotic birds and reptiles may require a permit. Animals arriving nationally and internationally could be quarantined.
No. There are multi-cellular animals, such as sponges, that don't have mouths but still take in food.
Because they may contain diseases that could affect animals and plants etc. this s only the case with fresh food. packaged food is alright to take, such as candy.
