Like other wild cats the ocelot is a carnivore (meat eater) and cunning predator. However, unlike many other wild cats, they generally only hunt prey that is smaller than themselves. They use their good vision, including remarkable night vision, and sense of smell to hunt prey. They are usually solitary hunters, but will sometimes hunt together. The largest part of their diet is made up of rodents, rabbits, and opossums. They will also eat lizards, turtles, frogs, crabs, birds and fish. Interestingly, ocelots will also eat grass and this can make up to 20% of their diet.
An ocelot is normally an apex predator but it does sometimes become prey to other animals.
Natural predators of ocelots include jaguars and cougars (which are even bigger cats than the ocelot), harpy eagles (to which the ocelot is just a tasty small cat), and some species of boa native to their habitat (if the boa can get it's mouth around its prey, it is quite willing to eat it - and ocelots are small enough to eat).
Ocelots like to eat small animals. They will catch monkeys, snakes, rodents and birds if they can. Almost all of the animals that the ocelot hunts are far smaller than it is. Scientists think that ocelots follow and find animals to eat (prey) by smell, sniffing for where they've been on the ground. They can see very well in the dark with night vision, and move very stealthily, too. Ocelots hunt their prey by blending in with their surroundings then pouncing on their prey.

Pumas are known to attack ocelots.
Ocelots, like all cats, are carnivores and predators so eating meat (be it in cat food or another animal) is their nature.
