The history of religion is done in history classes, but to go beyond that teaching a particular lesson on a given religion is left up to private schools and home. The United States constitution provides a freedom of religion for all without state interference and allows people to worship how they wish or not worship without discrimination.

There are many things a person can do contrary to getting an education. A person may choose to start working instead of getting an education in a traditional school environment.
Religious education is "instruction religieuse" or "cathéchisme" (for Catholics). It is not a school subject (except in some private religious schools) but is taught by volunteers outside schools.

This all depends on the individual situation. Some polygamists belong to certain religious groups that restrict or limit formal higher education for women. What girls are taught and how long they are in school varies from group to group.
