I've never heard of 3 levels of Christianity before, however, Ephesians asks 3 of life's questions; How far can I live like the world and still be a Christian? Are some Christians automatically better and more important than I am? How can I experience Christian victory? Ephesians shows:

  1. God's purpose in Christ creating a unified church based on God's grace.
  2. God's purposes in the church creating a community filled with His Spirit and practicing His faith in boldness.
  3. Ephesians calls you to work bodily for unity in Christ's church.

1. It is by God's grace that we are accepted in Christ:

Ephesians 1:6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

2. The Lord Jesus is the Redeemer. We are the redeemed. His blood is the ransom price;

Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

3. We are saved through faith in God, not by works.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

How is faith described in the letter of Paul to the Ephesians?

(Ephesians 4:4-19)Paul stated that there was oneChristian faith, and encouraged all in the Christian congregation to reach out for the "unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God" and continue maturing (Hebrews 5:14; James 1:4, 25) and gaining a full understanding of Jesus teachings(Ephesians 3:17-19), all speaking in agreement with no divisions(Colossians 1:10), becoming 'full grown' with powers of understanding (1 Corinthians 14:20) and making application in our lives.

What does Ephesians chapter 4 verse 3 mean?

Ephesians addresses three questions. How can I live like the world and still be a Christian? Are some Christians automatically better and more important than I am? How can I experience Christian victory? About 60 A.D. while in prison in Rome, Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus and its neighboring churches to give them a manual for Christian living showing how the church could be unified with each member reaching the potential God intended. Ephesians shows: god's purpose in Christ creating a unified church based on God's grace (chapters 1-3) and God's purposes in the church creating a community filled with His spirit and practicing His faith in boldness (chapters 4-6). Ephesians calls you to work boldly for unity in Christ's church.

What was Paul encouraging the Ephesians to do?

One thought:Paul wrote two letters fairly close together and had Tychicus(Ephesians 6:21+22/Colossians 4:7-9) deliver them. Both the letter to the congregation in Ephesus and the letter to the congregation in Colossae, contained similar council, since they shared many of the same problems. We, in our modern, self-serving, materialistic world today, can also get good council from these letters from Paul.**Ephesus was a wealthy city, and materialism was a real threat to the Christian congregation. Paul, therefore, encouraged Christians to turn away from this type of thinking, and instead, seek the 'true' riches' that come from faith in God (Ephesians 1:7, 18; Ephesians 2:7; Ephesians 3:8, 16) .**Immorality was also a severe problem in the city of Ephesus , so Paul encouraged them to 'strip off the OLD personality with it's practices and to put on the NEW one created in God's image' . Christians were not to be acting in obscene ways, but should be good examples to others (Ephesians 4:20-24; Ephesians 5:3-5).**Pagan false religion and crimes of all kinds were normal around the famed 'Temple of Artemis' in Ephesus, and Paul spoke out against this type of behavior for those in the Christian congregation, encouraging them NOT to adopt the dark demonic ways of the those around them (Ephesians 4:17,18,25-32)(Ephesians 6:11&12).**Paul encouraged the Ephesians to appreciate the provisions God has made through Jesus (Ephesians 1:15-23 Ephesians 3:14-21) and to keep themselves clean and strong spiritually (Ephesians 6:14-24)

What does it mean to say that Ephesians was written for us today?

A:To say this is a statement of faith, and faith only. Even if Paul had written Ephesians, he could not have understood our modern society or the very different problems and challenges we face. But Ephesians was not written by Paul - it was forged in his name long after his death. The author wrote to change the doctrine and practices of the Christian Church in his own time, even if this did eventually affect the Church today. Clearly Ephesians was not written for us today when it instructs slaves to subject themselves to their masters. We could understand it as speaking for today when it says that the husband is the head of the wife, who must always obey him, a view that was passed down through the ages and is still held by some Christians today. However, that does not seem to have been Paul's view, so ifEphesians (andColossians) had not been written, Christian attitudes to women and their roles in the family and church might have been very different.A:It has been suggested by many that the entire Bible, both the Old and New Testament, was not written to us- but for us. While scholars still debate who authored Ephesians (it is not a settled matter), even the staunchest critics admit that it is a work of genius and great spiritual insight. Ephesians is still relevant for us today as it answers three of life's questions; How far can I live like the world and still be a Christian? Are some Christians automatically better and more important than I am? How can I experience Christian victory? Ephesians shows God's purpose in Christ in creating an unified church based on God's grace (1-3), and God's purposes in the church creating a community filled with His Spirit and practicing His faith in boldness (4-6). Ephesians callsyou towork boldly for unity in Christ's church; all stillrelevantmatters in today's world.
