There are actually four(4) shapes of the hair follicle. They are seperated in the density of the hair shaft located under the scalp i.e. curly hair has a hooked bulb, the more hooked the curlier the hair grows.
The 4 types of hair shapes:
1.Straight- 1 a
2.Wavy- 2 a,2 b,2 c
3.Curly-3 a,3 b,3 c
4 Kinky- 4 a,4 b,4 c
They are also separated within ethnicity so, straight, wavy and curly(African as well) would be Caucasian- white, Hispanic, Indian etc.
Curly and Kinky would be the African or anyone with frizzy curly hair would make it seem like kinky hair until it is washed or brushed. Also Kinky hair is just curly hair with a lot more curl which tends to shrink(75%) more than other hair types and clump together making it look (nappy).
