Liquid, or 'the liquid state', is one of the four fundamental states of the matter and it is distinguishable because it's the only state with a volume, but without a defined shape, because it's made up of tiny vibrating particles in the matter which are held together by invisible bonds. Four distinctive properties which can be used to describe the liquids are critical temperature, critical pressure, surface tension, and viscosity.

They take the shape of the container they are in.

The atoms cannot be squeezed together or pushed apart.

it can flow

it has no fixed shape

its particles are more dense than gases but less then solids
