Artemis is one of the only goddesses to resist Aphrodite's enchantments. She is the goddess of the hunt, eternal virgin, and of the childbirth. She has the power to turn anyone into an animal. She has a group of huntresses who are immortal, but they can die in battle. They all have to pledge that they will never trust a man and never loose their virginity. The y all must stay loyal to her wishes and NEVER have intercourse with a man. One story of Artemis I like is where she was bathing in a stream and a man was watching her with woo full eyes. She was furious (remember she is the eternal virgin and doesn't trust men at all) and she turned him into a deer. When her huntresses returned she ordered them to hunt him down (he is a deer now) and kill him. If you have more questions about any god or goddess, just ask and i will do my best to answer your question.

Yay! Artemis is my favorite goddess! She is the goddess of the hunt and sort of the moon/night (Selene is the official moon goddess). She also is associated with archery and virginity.
Artemis was the Huntress goddess, and goddess of the Wild she roamed within and the animals therein were both hunted by her, and some special cases, protected by her.
In the Greek mythology several of the gods used a bow and arrows when they needed a weapon. Being the goddess of hunting, Artemis' bow was special. Some say it was of silver, others it was of gold. it was made by the cyclops as a birthday gift to Artemis. She could shoot an arrow with perfect aim.
She generally has just that one name, like most of the gods. In special situations an epithet can be added. Click link below, then scroll down to the section Worship of Artemis for examples!
