Einherjar.
In Norse mythology, a valkyrie is one of a host of female figures who choose who will win or die in battle. The valkyries bring their chosen who have died bravely in battle to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin, where the deceased warriors become Einherjar. There, when the Einherjar are not preparing for the events of Ragnarök, the valkyries look after their tableware and drinks.
The Valkyrie were female warriors of Odin. They were the Choosers of the Slain, those who became the einherjar and who dwelt in Valhalla.

Valkyries are female spirits or demigoddesses in Norse mythology. The word valkyrie comes from old Norse valkyrja, and means "chooser of the slain." The valkyries are said to be the daughters of Odin. When there were battles in Midgard, the valkyries went there and decided what warriors should fall in the battle. They brought the fallen to Asgard where they became Einherjar and fought all day and feasted all night. The Einherjar were divided between Odin and Freyja. Odin's Einherjar lived in Valhall, Freyja's lived in Folkvang. Sometimes the valkyries are portrayed as riding winged horses, in other stories they can shapeshift into swans or ravens. In some stories valkyries marry human heroes. The valkyries often have names connected to battles, for example Sigurdrifa(victory-urger), Geirskogul(spear-shaker) and Skeggjold(axe time).
A man dying in battle would be collected by the Valkyries and transported to Valhalla, where he would be enrolled in the combat forces of the Gods, the einherjar. Every day the einherjar would slay each other on the battlefield, training for the fight to come at the End of Days, Ragnarok, and every night they would be resurrected and have a grand feast, eating roast pig and drinking buckets of mead. Men who died by accident or succumbed to disease, ended up in Helheim, the cold Underworld. So did women. Hence there are many accounts of old and frail men mustering up their strength to enter battle one last time, just to ensure that they died fighting.
In a way. Freya is titled Valfreyja, that is "Mistress of the Slain" as she is chief of the Valkyries "Choosers of the Slain", half the einherjar chosen by the Valkyries went to Odin in Valhalla where it stood in Gladsheim; the other to the field Folkvang where Freya's home Sessrymnir sat. She was certainly goddess of fertility and love as well.
Valhalla is the palace of Odin and the meeting place of the gods. It is also where the Einherjar (fallen mortal heroes who earned their place in Vallahalla) stay. Valkyries are the servants of Odin. They scour battlefields and bring the souls of those they judge worthy of immortality to Valhalla. Where they'll fight and drink every day until Rangarök.
The answer comes too late for Porta and the boys, but here it is anyway (from Wikipedia): In Norse mythology, Sæhrímnir was the cosmic boar killed and eaten every night by the Æsir and einherjar. The cook of the gods, Andhrímnir, was responsible for the slaughter and preparation using the cauldron named Eldhrímnir. After Sæhrímnir was eaten, he was brought back to life to provide sustenance for the following day. The three names can be translated into modern language as Sø (Lake or Sea), Ild (Fire) and Ånd (Spirit). So the einherjar ate what one must believe ghosts eat. So it was not really a pig, but close enough. Cheers! Porthos

When a Norse warrior died honorably in combat, it was said that the Valkyries, warrior women sent by the gods, took their spirit away to Valhalla. One of Odin's three feasting-halls, Valhalla is located on the plane of Asgard, and it is their that the Einherjar (the honorable dead) train themselves to be ready for the great battle of Ragnarok, where they fight alongside the Aesir against the great Jotunn uprising.
