Historical points are a record of some very old contributions that didn't fit into the new system (it was a bit like putting a video cassette into a DVD player). We didn't want you to lose them, so we created a special category for them. "Historical" contribution points can no longer be obtained, and the number won't change. You can view it as a little contribution nest egg.
If you don't have Historical points on your profile, don't worry. It means all of your points fit right into the other point sections in your stats box.
Historical contribution points were introduced on Mon Feb 01, 2010, when the Split Contributions feature went live on WikiAnswers.
'Historical' points are points earned before a major site update changed the way contributions were counted. The site describes them as "miscellaneous points from our older system".
Your total WikiAnswers contribution points are calculated as the sum of all of the contribution points you have earned. These include first answers, edits, organizational actions, questions asked, and community contributions. All of these points come under the heading of "Contributions" in your WikiAnswers profile. Trust points are slightly different. Contributors do not directly earn these points through their contributions; they are awarded trust points by other WikiAnswers users. Therefore, trust points are not counted as contributions, and do not add to the contribution points total in a WikiAnswers profile.
Trust points do not entirely help you get hired to work for WikiAnswers, since actually getting paid to work for WikiAnswers is different from the amount of trust points you received online.
You get organization points for editing, answering and flagging
Many have.
There is no limit as to how many trust points a person can earn on WikiAnswers. Currently, the highest number of trust points held by a person on this site is well over 8,000.
You can't "level up" on WikiAnswers. You can acquire "Trust Points" when another user gives them to you.
Any action you perform on WikiAnswers will generate a contribution of some kind. Whether the activity generates one or more points depends on the activity. Chatting, forum entries, and merging may not generate actual points, and the totals of your points could be adjusted by future guidelines. The point of wikianswers is not simply to generate points, although the points indicate your comparative interest and aid to the site.
The historical contributions on this website are not active anymore. They are remnants of the old contributions system. The old system did not divide the types of points like it does now. When the site went to the new system, all the old contributions were made historical. Only members that have been on the site for a while still have those contributions on their profile.
Currently, the WikiAnswers system of trust points hasn't changed - you can only add trust points, and you can only recommend from a question the user has answered by going to the contributors tab and clicking "recommend".
By answering a TON of questions and working your way to the top. Ya know, so your name gets out there. Also, you need atleast 2 points filled for a year in the calender. Nearly impossible!
