The Japanese Archipelago (which is comprised of the islands that constitute Japan) is bordered on the west by the Sea of Japan (East Sea) which separates it from Korea and Russia. To the North and Northeast is the Sea of Othotsk. To the East of Japan lies the North Pacific. South is the Philippine Sea. Southwest is the East China Sea.
