There are four ports that a keyboard can use. They are:

  • USB (the most popular now)
  • PS/2
  • AT connector
  • Apple Desktop Bus (ADB)

Also, some keyboards are wireless and don't need cables. But, the transmitter and receiver unit that attaches to the computer need a port.
