You're splitting hairs, but I think I see where you're getting at and I'll try to answer it. A "Mechanic Technician" (ASE Certified Automotive Technician) works on automotive vehicles and a "Mechanical Technician" works on mechanized equipment. (Ie.. Elevators, Assembly lines, Architecture, etc...) He/She can also work in an automotive factory and be responsible for keeping the automotive assembly line moving smoothly. A mechanic wouldn't be responsible for that, although most mechanics are pretty handy in those types of situations even though it's not his job to do so. I hope this helps you out a little.
