Narcan/Nalaxone.Morphine Sulfate (MS) is an opioid narcotic agent; Narcan is an narcotic antagonist; it binds to the opioid receptor sites. It works on Morphine/MS-Contin, Fentanyl/Duragesic, Heroin, Tramadol, Codeine, Hydrocodone/Vicodin, Oxycodone/Percocet and several others. This is not a cure, it will reverse the symptoms of an OD [unconsciousness, unresponsiveness, bradypnea (very slow breathing)] and is also used in unwitnessed cardiac arrests (especially the young and elderly).Narcan cannot hurt you and has no pain relief properties or euphoric effects and typically only lasts 70-90 minutes before the OD symptoms return.

Morphine can cause the release of histamine which can cause the skin & the whites of the eyes to redden. Taking an antihistamine 30-60 minutes before using morphine can help reduce the symptoms of histamine, but, some antihistamines can cause drowsiness. This, combined with the effects of morphine could cause excessive sedation.
Respiratory Depression. It would begin to get more difficult to breathe and you'd have labored breathing and end up having an OD without seeking medical attention.
Morphine will provide relief from pain and gives the patient a sense of wellbeing. Opiates in general slow down breathing, heart rate and brain activity and as a result the body's tolerance to pain is increased. Morphine also suppresses the cough reflex which is why it is used to treat severe coughs. Morphine does have side-effects, two of the most common are constipation and nausea and with higher doses of morphine, additional drugs to relieve or prevent these symptoms may be needed.

Morphine is generally kept locked up in hospitals. Pharmacies do not normally carry morphine. Morphine is a controlled substance because it is derived from or emulates the same opioid source that heroin comes from.
