On the Atlantic Ocean Suriname has northern coastal frontage. It doesn't have coastal frontage on the Caribbean. But because of the nearness of the Republic's geographic location and because of the closeness of cultural and economic ties, Suriname may be considered a member of the Caribbean community of nations.
