United States Air Force: The aerial, space, and cyber warfare branch of the U.S. armed forces. The USAF operates the most combat aircraft, transport aircraft, unmanned combat aircraft, and intercontinental ballistic missiles then any other branch of armed services in the United States and all of the world. The Air Force is responsible for worldwide search and rescue and nationwide SAR in cooperation with the United States Coast Guard, maintaining national air sovereignty, combat air operations, airlift transportation operations, all land and air based nuclear assets, cyber operations warfare, and space operations. The United States Air Force also operates the largest space program in the world and works in cooperation with NASA.

United States Army: The branch of the United States armed forces responsible for land-based operations. It is the largest and oldest branch of the U.S. military. It provides counter-drug support, antiterrorism, counterterrorism, peacekeeping, ground based show of force in the form of strikes, raids and attacks in large scale combat, general warfare, and global warfare operations.

United States Coast Guard: The Coast Guard is a maritime, military, multi-mission service unique among the military branches for having a maritime law enforcement mission (with jurisdiction both domestically and in international waters) and a federal regulatory agemcy mission as part of its mission set. It operates under the Department of Homeland Security during peacetime, and can be transferred to the Department of the Navy by the President or Congress during time of war. It is responsible for maritime homeland security, law enforcement, search and rescue, marine environmental protection, and the maintenance of river, intracoastal and offshore aids to navigation.

United States Marine Corps: The Marine Corps is responsible for providing force projection from the sea, using the mobility of the United States Navy to rapidly deliver combined-arms task forces. The Marines Corps is a very flexible organization by being able to project its power through ground, air, and naval assets. Although it is the smallest branch under the Department of Defense, it is larger then most nations armies (e.g. The British Army). The Marines are primarily responsible for the seizure or defense of advanced naval bases and other land operations to support naval campaigns, and the development of tactics, techniques, and equipment used by amphibious landing forces.

United States Navy: The Navy is the sea branch of the United States armed forces. The U.S. Navy is the largest in the world. Its battle fleet tonnage is greater than that of the next 13 largest combined. The U.S. Navy is responsible for the preparation of naval forces necessary for the effective prosecution of war, the maintenance of naval aviation, including land-based naval aviation, air transport essential for naval operations and all air weapons and air techniques involved in the operations and activities of the Navy, and the development of aircraft, weapons, tactics, technique, organization, and equipment of naval combat and service elements.
