Windows startup programs are used for convenience. For example, it would save time for certain programs to pop up at computer startup rather than one to find the program and launch it manually.
You can use Windows Defender to disable programs that run at startup, or using System Configuration.

Startup programs are programs that are started when you boot up your computer. To select what programs you do or do not want to open at startup you will need to search for and open the 'msconfig.exe' file. Once 'msconfig.exe' is open, click on the Startup tab, you will see a list of programs. From this list you can select or deselect what programs should open at startup.
To modify which programs start when Windows boots, you can use the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc, navigating to the "Startup" tab, and enabling or disabling programs. Additionally, the System Configuration tool (msconfig) allows you to manage startup items through the "Startup" tab, although it redirects you to Task Manager in newer Windows versions. The Registry Editor can also be used for advanced users to manually change startup entries.
