A lake is alrge body of water that is larger than a pond but smaller an ocean and doesn't produce waves normally. However, they're still the same just because they're in the US doesn't make them different. :) Hope I Helped

Do not know the answer; but WISCONSIN has more than 15,000 lakes, all listed in a book they have available. I believe that is more than Minnesota or any other state.
The Great Lakes (all fresh water) are Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. Lake Champlain is considered a sixth by the Americans.
