You can buy them at few at stores. On some versions, people will give them to you. On Yellow, Red and Blue, you can find Moon stones in certain caves. There are multiple ways to get stones. Remember, there are other ways of evolving your Pokemon besides stones! Good luck! In different versions, evolutionary stones are obtained in different ways: In Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow; these stones are bought from the Celadon Department store. In Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal; stones are obtained randomly throughout the game (By finding them, winning a contest, etc.). In Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald evolutionary stones are traded from a man who is looking for different coloured shrads. Pokemon Firered and Leafgreen are the same as Red and Blue. In all versions, Moon stones are found randomly and cannot be bought or traded.
Thunder stones, Water stones, Fire stones, Leaf stones, Shiny stones, Dusk stones, Oval stones, Moon stones, Sun stones.
Different stones are used for making the same Pokemon type evolve!
Stonehenge is built in a way that the sun hits different stones at different times of the year. They had to know where to line up the stones. The stones are 'aligned' with the sun. At different times of the year, the sun shines on different stones, making it like a giant sundial.

You can find all the evolution stones underground by digging. If you get lucky you may dig up some. I find the most common are the thunder stones. I have dug up moon stones, fire stones, water stones, and sun stones. There may be more. I've just remembered! I've also dug up leaf stones but no shiny stones.
Just as stones come in different sizes and shapes the also come in different 'hardness'. Soft stones like sandstone will be easy to crush but stones made from volcano will be very hard like diamond so will be very difficult
It is believed that all the stones in Stonehenge weigh over 320 tons.
There are many different types of stones used for knife sharpening. Japanese water stones, whetstones, and oil stones are also very commonly found today.
