Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sometimes sulfur. The defining structure is a nitrogen attached to a carbon that is attached to another carbon that is double bound to an oxygen. The nitrogen side is called the Amino terminal, and the other side is called the carboxy terminal. What makes amino acids different is the R group that is attached to the first carbon I mentioned with the simplest being a hydrogen.
