Gods have been used in all religions, certain religion practices worshipping many gods, or like in the Catholic religion, only one God. The ancient Egyptians, however, worshipped over 1,000 gods and goddesses. Each god was to represent an element, and having the powers of their element. A good example is Geb, the earth god. Geb is supposedly the ground we walk on, and his body is covered in green grass, sand, mountains, and rivers. He can cause fires if he so desires or make his rivers flood, or he can make his sand dunes turn into sandstorms. The Egyptians believed that when Geb sneezed, he caused wind.
