The western wall has no visible deities or representations of deities; it just looks like a wall, built out of rather large blocks. The significance of the western wall is purely symbolic.
If you expect to see any drawings, photos, portraits, icons, statues, busts, models, sketches, sculptures,or depictions in any medium of any living or spiritual thing in any form at the Western Wall, you'll bedisappointed. There are none.If a tourist snaps a photo of his family on the plaza with the wall in the background and slipsthe print into his pocket, or takes a banknote out of his pocket and drops it into a charity boxaround the plaza, you may catch a brief glimpse of the image of a face on paper. But there arenone at all involved in the mood, environment, or presentation of the Kotel itself, except in theimagination, consciousness, conscience, and character of the visitor. Whatever the reality andmeaning of the place, they are different, internal, and unique to every observer.
There is no answer, why were any of the gods deities?

Ares and his wife Aphrodite.

Yes, there are.
The Greeks viewed their deities as immortal; they could not be killed and they could not die.
Because christians feel like they have arrived at a Holy place of historical significance, a part of their heritage. They too wish for the Temple to be rebuilt. So, praying at the Wall gives them a since of reconnecting to a past and the future. They think that is what you should do at the wall just as the Jews do. The Jews do it, so that's what christians should do??? They feel it brings them closer to their "jewishness" without giving up the idea of jesus being the messiah.
there wasn't any western colonies. there were western territories.
All pictures of God are but representations of mans idea of what God looks like. There are hundreds painted by artists who have their own idea as to what God looks like. There are also thousands of paintings of Christ, all are different in some way.
