Apple strudel is a filled pastry that originated in the Middle East but since the 17th century has become an Austrian mainstay.
Toaster Strudels were first made in the April of 1985.
Cadbury's Strudels (Stroodles?) were around in the early 1970s: they were chocolate-covered pieces of dried apple, a la chocolate raisins, and came in a big round apple-shaped foil bag. The TV advert featured an Einstein-like scientist and the catchphrase "Oodles and oodles of Strudels!"
