Big Sisters are Little sisters who have been converted in a Big Daddy sort of way. You battle multiple Big Sisters throughout the game, as you kill more Big Daddies, and collect more Little Sisters.

∙ 12y agoBig Sisters are grown-up Little Sisters. When they reach a certain age, they are no longer useful for Adam gathering from corpses, they become aggressive and feral. So they are placed in modified Daddy suits and become Big Sisters, sent out when Little Sisters are in danger and Big Daddies have already failed.

Why are little sisters ugly in BioShock 1 and not in BioShock 2?
In Bioshock 1 the little sisters where not as big as a part as they are in Bioshock 2. in Bioshock 2, the little sisters aren't as ugly so you develop a relationship with the little sisters, because your a big daddy, so you want to protect and save them. Plus, Bioshock 2 is set after Bioshock 1, so the little sisters are older, making their bodies more developed.
