What are tiny red bugs that somewhat resemble lice found near a dog?

Tiny red bugs that resemble lice are called clover mites. They are no bigger than the size of a pinhead. They do not bite pets or humans but may be found in the house inside bedding.

Do lice come from fleas?

No, lice do not come from fleas. Lice are transmitted through contact with another animal/human that has lice or with an item that has been contaminated through contact with an infected animal/human. For example, brushes can have lice in them and when used on more than one person or animal the lice can then move from one to another.

Can you get pubic lice if you're a virgin?

Head lice can "get into" just about anywhere on your body, but they are not likely to stay anywhere other than your head. Hence the name head lice.

What is worse than wearing crocs?

HEAD LICE!

Can cats carry human lice?

no Pet's cant get lice. It depends on what your pet is - if it is a sheep, goat or bird than yes it can get lice. Human head lice cannot survive on pets. They need human blood to survive and live. Lice are extremely fragile in the environment (dehydrate VERY quickly) and cannot live longer than 24 hours without a human blood meal (they don't live on pets). Focusing on items worn in the last 24 hours, bedsheets, combs/brushes will cover your possible exposure from the environment. Experts believe lice transmission from inanimate objects to be less than 2%. So cover your bases but don't fine tooth comb the carpet!

Do kids in Head Start have more lice?

I taught Head Start for a few years and they had no more lice than any other children.

How big can head lice get?

Well it depends. When a lice jumps onto your head, it lays eggs all through your head. They are tiny at first, but in at least 7 days they get bigger as the baby lice inside the egg grows. After 7 days, the nits, or "eggs" hatch. That will make the lice bugs tiny where you cannot even really see them.. after time the lice bugs grow bigger. More and more will lay eggs and continue to hatch if you don't treat them right away! I recommend RID or washing your hair in vinegar. It helped me, and I haven't had lice since then. I hope this helped.. :)

Can a dog catch head lice?

Yes, you can. Fleas can be transmitted from dogs onto just about anywhere you sit, sleep, or wear on your body. They're small, but they pack a punch with sucking blood, and the bites are VERY itchy!

Can lice go through sheets?

This question is categorized under head lice. To answer that question, the answer is very likely no. Head lice are about the size of a sesame seed. Most sheets sold today are woven much more tightly than that to allow them to go through sheets. There is a SMALL chance head lice may transfer from one person to another if sharing a pillow or a fabric that has touched an infested person's head. The probability is minimal, but items such as sheets should be washed and dried at the highest possible temperature. I am not an expert on body lice or pubic lice, so I can only comment on head lice.

Can you use Head and Shoulders to treat lice?

No because head and shoulders treats dandruff which is a skin irritation and lice is a parasite, basically a small bug, so therefore it will not help anymore than regular shampoo.
