There are two factors in an environment. Biotic factors and abiotic factors. Biotic factors are living organisms that affect other organisms. Abiotic factors are non-living factors such as temperature, sunlight, humidity, soil, etc.

Biotic factors are all of the living things in an ecosystem. They are usually categorized as producers, consumers or decomposers. These factors affect the environment mainly by their consumption of the other biotic and abiotic factors in that environment. If too many of a certain organism begin to crowd an environment, for example, they may cause damage to the physical landscape of that environment.
