Bookmark and Favorite both means the same in computer but the only difference is Favorites is only in Internet Explorer and Favorites are named as Bookmark in Web Browsers other than Internet Explorer.
Might be your bookmarks have got deleted. Check if your bookmarks exits into your favorites.
No. Firefox and Internet Explorer are two totally different pieces of software and do not affect each other in any way (unless you are importing your favourites/bookmarks).
The only thing is you can import them into Firefox as bookmarks. To do this click File, then click import, and then choose Internet Explorer. Then it has the options of what you want to import from Internet Explorer.
They are called "Favorites" You have a Favorites Menu, and a Favorites bar, particularly on the newer iterations of Internet Explorer. I believe they were called Bookmarks on IE until 6.0.
