Brake blocks is an earlier name for brake pads for caliper brakes on bicycles. The blocks/pads that clamp to stop the bike.
A caliper brake is a form of brake as used on bicycles in which a pair of arms with brake pads move inwards and press on the rim of the wheel.
A brake shoe is the part of a braking system which carries the brake lining in the drum brakes. It can be used in automobiles, bicycles, and other things.
Over here in the states we call the brake blocks the brake pads. The holder of these is called a brake caliper. If you live in the UK they may have a different name.
What the brake lever does is that it use the action of the rider pulling on the lever into a force that can be used to slow the wheel(s) down by generating friction.
The brake pedal is used to bring a motorized moving vehicle to a safe stop. Vehicles such as cars, trucks, bicycles, and all utilize a brake petal mechanism.
That is an amzingly confused question. Brake cyliders can be found on bicycles with hydraulic brakes, mostly MTBs, but is more usually found on motorized vehicles.
Oil makes things "slip", it is a lubricant, it reduces friction. Brake blocks work by "gripping" the wheel rim and stop the wheel turning using high friction between the block and the rim. Placing oil on the brake blocks will reduce their efficiency and if the rider can not stop quickly they may run into things.
Brakes help a bicycle to stop, of course --- but do you know why? it's because brakes use friction. When you squeeze the brakes, rubber blocks press against the wheels. The friction between the blocks and the wheels slow your bicycle down.
All types of bicycles can ride on the street. But would not recommend a child's bike with training wheels ridden by a child or an adult. Usually, for a bike to be street legal, it has to have brakes, with one brake being separate from the drive system. Basically if you have a coaster brake, you also need one hand brake. And, if you're riding while it's dark, you're usually required to have reflectors at least, and usually also lights.

A caliper brake is a type of brake that works by squeezing the rim between two pads of a rubbery material. Those pads may also be called blocks and needs to be replaced as they wear out.
If the bicycles belong to ONE FRIEND, it's "friend's bicycles." If the bicycles belong to TWO OR MORE FRIENDS, it's "friends' bicycles."
