the adaption of a carnivorous caterpillar is that it can camouflage to hide from predators and it's prey (prey because, the prey wouldn't notice it, so when the prey touches it, it will strike). Also a(n) instinctive strike so when touched, it will strike right away without hesitation (which i thought was cool). But they also have a seductive smell (which I'm not really sure they do, but i guess they do). (I learned all of this in school in the eighth grade which i thought was really cool to remember about those types of caterpillars).
Some caterpillars grow spikes, preventing animals from eating it. Some are poisenous, or use camaflouge to hide from prediters. Some are fast (for obvious reasons), some are harry, which prevents them from swalling it. (Imagine collecting a bunch of short dog hair, which has shed from the dogs winter coat. Now imagine trying to swallow it.) Their are many different adaptations that a caterpillar can use to survive. These adaptations happen according to the different enviorment that a caterpillar lives in, and whatt will benifit it the most. The favorable traits survive and are passed on.
Well, it can't take too much heat or too much cold. It needs to be just right. As for food it will problubly eat leaves, fruit and a type of weed. It will adapt to the size of it's enviroment in a few days if it was just born. But if it's older ot will take a few weeks.
They start their lives as herbivores, like any other caterpillar. Then they adapt to eating insects, and Spiders, which are very plentiful.
