if you have ever made a campfire and used the special logs that make the fire turn different colours. well that is an example of chloride compounds they soak the logs in copper chloride Bariume chloride, etc... and because each different element in the compound has different colours in the light spectrum therefore it looks really cool in a fire.

What is the mechanism of ferric chloride test?

The ferric chloride test is used to detect the presence of phenolic compounds in a substance. It involves adding ferric chloride solution to the sample, and if phenolic compounds are present, a colored complex forms due to the formation of iron-phenol complexes. The intensity of the color change can be used to estimate the concentration of phenolic compounds in the sample.

Why is it more difficult to test for the presence of chloride in organic compounds than in inorganic compounds like HCl?

Testing for chloride in organic compounds is more difficult because organic compounds can contain multiple functional groups and other elements that may interfere with traditional chloride tests. Additionally, the amount of chloride in organic compounds can be lower, making it harder to detect. In contrast, inorganic compounds like HCl contain only chloride ions, simplifying the testing process.
