There is a cellular component, this would include red 'cells', white cells, and platelets. There is also a matrix portion, known as serum, this is different from plasma, where plasma is a part of serum.

There are a few main types of blood cell. The red blood cell, this takes oxygen away to all parts of the body.Blue blood cell, cells with no oxygen going back to the heart.White blood cells, these make up your immune system and fight of bacteria. They will then "store" info about that bacteria so they can fight it quicker next time.
